My wifi on my phone isnt working??????

I have the sanyo zio and it an internet phone. I connected the wifi that I have at my house and tried to upload the video on YouTube since it can only upload with wifi. But when I named the video and that stuf then I pressed on upload and it said waiting for wifi? But the wifi was connected. How do I mak it so my phone knows the wifi is connected???
