How can you tell if you made your cat afraid of you?

OK got a few questions for all you cat pros. You see just got my first Kitten only had fully grown strays I think I may have ruined our relationship before it began. I was trying to potty train her and she kept having accidents in my hall not more than 3 feet from her box so I yelled and kept her in the bathroom with door closed and didn't let her out till the next afternoon. Now when I try to pick her up and bring her to the box she runs from me. Its been here about a week. What should I do?
